BuBu was hard at work for the last few weeks and now we have something working to show.
We’ve added gen8 support to our boot-menu. It looks and feels almost the same like on gen6 and gen7.
UPDATE: HowTo here: http://dev.openaos.org/wiki/SettingUpMultiRootGen8
Sources are here:
http://gitorious.org/archos-buildroots/gen8-kernel

Those are our patched versions of the Archos official git.
And here are binaries:

Currently known issues:
- No TS support on A70S, A70H, A101 inside the boot-menu
- TS support in boot-menu removed also from other models due to problems
- currently some problems with cdc-acm debugging, work in progress
- Vol+/- is reversed on A101

tried using it with 28 and it does not work, it just boots Archos, then turns black and then boots the regular android software.
Please come to our IRC channel and provide logcat output so that we can investigate this!
Is anyone else having a problem getting the 6/24 version working on the A101? I flashed the initramfs.cpio.gz & zImage but now when i reboot i’ll get the Archod boot screen, a quick flash of the openAOS boot logo, & then it goes black & starts again. I’ve tried re-downloading & flashing twice now, attempting a third time now.
~TIA

It isn’t working on Archos 43. It boots up perfectly and shows Archos and Angstrom OS’es, but pressing the power button does nothing (Power button may be mapped to a different value on A43?). Anyways, nice work, if this little bug gets fixed I’ll definitely be using this a ton.
Also, A43′s screen is oriented in portrait by default (480×854) so the message doesn’t all fit on the screen, I get
Boot Menu
:Select operating system to boo
where half the second ‘o’ and the ‘t’ are cut off. Nothing too bad, just an annoyance on the smaller devices.
…Just tapped the screen, Android started up. Maybe touchscreen does work, though it doesn’t appear to be calibrated correctly.
how would you add another os (such as the debian lxde) to the boot menu
Oh no, when update my initramfs.cpio.gz and zImage on my archos 43 but does not booting. Just hangin off with startup-screen “Archos entertainment your way”
Oh yea I came
