Installation

Archos-Ångström is designed to run alongside the stock Archos firmware in a dual-boot arrangement (actually, it's not real dual-boot, as both use the same Linux kernel, but the difference should not trouble users). So the first installation decision should be whether you want the dual-boot capability (and are willing to follow the rather complex set of steps needed to get it) or whether you just want to run Archos-Ångström.
Note:
Configuring dual-boot requires a Linux host computer to set up. There is no known way to carry out the procedure from a Windows host. Setting up to run Archos-Ångström alone can be done from a Windows host, or anything that supports USB mass storage.
I strongly recommend dual-boot setup if you have the patience and equipment required for it. Archos-Ångström is a small desktop operating system, not a media player. Media functionality is still handled better by the stock Archos firmware, and that is likely to remain the case.
